We must admit that we were hesitant to add anything to our maple syrup because it is already pretty perfect. But then we figured out that we could "brew" the flavor of coffee into our maple syrup and we knew we were onto something fun.
Once we figured that out, we knew the next thing we had to try was to add cayenne pepper. Actually, we tried several different types of pepper and cayenne paired the best. The front of the flavor is sweet and then the spicy part hits you at the back (kind of like a mullet).
Our favorite ways to use it include over fried chicken, in cocktails and of course on our pancakes and waffles.
